Carefor is Eastern Ontario’s largest home care and community support services not-for-profit, with over 1,200 employees serving Eastern Counties, Ottawa, and Pembroke-Renfrew County. As the founding chapter of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Carefor has been supporting seniors and vulnerable populations since 1897.
We are committed to supporting our staff through ongoing professional development, comprehensive onboarding, and continual training. We encourage our personal support workers to register with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) to uphold the highest standards of professional accountability.
The Client Care Worker (CCW) provides personal care and delegated health interventions to clients living in specialized care units within shelters and supportive housing environments. Working within Carefor policies, procedures, standards, and quality & risk management frameworks, the CCW collaborates with all members of the health care team to support individuals with complex physical, mental health, and substance-use-related needs.
This role supports programs within the Ottawa Inner City Health (OICH) network, including shelter-based units such as Men’s Special Care, TED (Targeted Engagement and Diversion), and Hospice, as well as supportive living programs such as Merivale Housing, Carruthers Housing, Oaks, Booth House, and Richcraft Residence. Care is delivered within a Harm Reduction Model, which may include managed alcohol programs and safer supply opioid distribution.
The CCW works under the delegation of a regulated health care professional and plays a key role in promoting client dignity, safety, and quality of life.
Carefor values equity, diversity and inclusion in all its forms and recruits qualified individuals at all occupational levels that reflect the diversity of our clients and our community. We are committed to providing inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection processes and a work environment that supports our diverse workforce. If you require accommodations at any stage of the recruitment process, please let your recruiter know when contacted. All requests for accommodation will be considered in a fair and objective manner that will ensure applicants are treated with respect and dignity.
