Prepares and serves nutritious, appealing meals for residents according to established menus, therapeutic diets, and individual preferences. Maintains food safety and sanitation standards, shops for food and kitchen supplies, and helps ensure an organized and efficient kitchen. Demonstrates respect, compassion, and teamwork while supporting residents and collaborating with staff.

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks to residents in accordance with individual dietary requirements, preferences, and established meal schedules.
• Clear, clean, and sanitize dining and food preparation areas, including washing tables, loading and operating the dishwasher, and handwashing pots, pans, and cooking utensils.
• Ensure kitchen laundry is washed, dried, folded and put away daily.
• Store all leftover foods at the required temperature and in appropriate containers. All foods that are left over must be dated and rotated.
• Clean food storage area and keep neat and tidy.
• Follow policies and procedures regarding sanitation, safety, and quality assurance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Clean and prepare food for cooking or salads,
• Cook food according to required temperature and method,
• Prepare desserts and baked items.
• Use supplies and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to eliminate or prevent waste.

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience in quantity food preparation.
• Experience in the use of kitchen equipment.
• Experience preparing meals for individuals with special dietary needs or therapeutic diets is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Experience interacting with older adults, individuals with serious illnesses, or vulnerable populations is considered an asset
• Knowledge of food and its preparation, including, knowledge of Canada Food Guide, Ontario Food Premises Regulation
• Must have Food Services Handlers Course
• Ability to understand oral and written directions and to calculate recipe quantities.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand and walk short distances
• Must be able to tolerate heat from kitchen area.
• Ability to work with others as a team
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition principles is an asset
